AASSTC's Tennis Night In America

The Active Aces Juniors’ Tennis Night in America event was held on Saturday, February 27, 2010 from 12 noon to 2:00 p.m. It was held at the Lake Arbor Community Room. The roof at the tennis bubble where we normally practice had collapsed as a result of the heavy snow, so the date and place of the event was changed. One guest said he came by just to see how we would do tennis in the Community Room.

Well we did!

We set up two Quick Start nets and used tape between the two nets to form a third court when the number of participants grew. A TV with Quick Start CDs ran throughout the two hours. Posters of Blake, Nadal, Serena and Lindsay were posted around the room.

Advertisement of the event was done

through local schools, churches, current junior members , AASSTC’s website, word of mouth and posters in the community. Of course, that day we had the USTA banner with balloons out at the street entrance to the facility. Local merchants donated drinks, snacks, and give away prizes.

Forty-nine (49) children signed in with a parent and thirty-nine (39) new youths...
